Was there a moment when you realized photography was more than a hobby?
When I started to realize there was an aspect of creation control in stillness that can’t be directly transferred to moving picture cinema.
It really caught my attention and the rest is history.
Do you see photography more as documentation or interpretation?
It’s both, you can never predict the meaning of why a photo has been taken. There is a difference between fine art and fact photography. There is no aspect of individual acts when it comes to coverage for an event, it’s just time and place. Art that has more individual meaning has the interpretation aspect, but it’s all relative to the genre and purpose.
What does your shooting process usually look like?
It varies depending on the method I’m using. In general, the main purpose is to create symmetry and to capture what a moment of attraction might mean in real time. When it’s not landscape-based and involves people, the approach shifts. Sometimes I’m looking for someone who can romanticize the landscape within my frame; other times I’m drawn to a person of interest based on their style, expression, or presence—like fashion or personal desire. Ultimately, the process is shaped by the goal of the work.
